Woven Together: The Chief Leonard George Building
5/14/2026|CONTINUING EDUCATION|STRUCTURED
1.50 ConEd Learning Hours
10:30a.m.-12:00p.m.
A Coast Salish woven basket is the central architectural expression for Vancouver's new Chief Leonard George Building. Largely premanufactured off-site, this affordable mixed-use residential development is Canada's first tall timber Passive House building. It combines energy-efficient design with cultural intelligence, intergenerational living, community programming, and a connection to natural materials.
Learning Objectives
1. Learn how integrated design facilitates innovation.
2. Understand how to work with premanufactured cross-laminated timber (CLT) floor and envelope panels.
3. Understand carbon reduction through mass timber construction.
4. Minimize waste, noise and construction impact through premanufacturing
