The Lines We Draw: Sketching
May 14, 2025 | EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING | STRUCTURED
3.50 ConEd Learning Hours
2:00 pm - 5:.30 pm
To attend this session, registrants must meet in the Conference Lounge: Provinces & Confederation I Kreitmaker Experiential Learning Dispatch Hub + Foyer of the Westin Ottawa Hotel
This session will have participants in hand-drawing and sketching exercises, stressing the connection between drawing and our creative instincts, as well as the value it brings to architectural practice.
It begins with short introductory exercises to loosen up, spark creativity, and review techniques that will assist participants in sketching in-situ (ideally in a classroom setting). This will be followed by travel to designated sites that align with the session's objectives. Participants will then engage in in-situ sketching, accompanied by ongoing discussions about technique, style, and other considerations before concluding with a final wrap-up and gathering to share sketches and observations.
This session is Level 3 (Moderately Active) and will require walking to various sketching locations nearby. Bring your sketchbook and drawing materials! This session will begin in a classroom before we depart off-site. Dress for weather conditions and wear comfortable footwear and clothing (including a hat for sun protection). Consider bringing a portable sketching stool, refillable water bottle, high-SPF sunscreen and sunglasses, and your camera.
