Lines We Draw- Sketching

When were children, we loved to draw. It might have been as we whiled away time on a rainy day or to keep occupied while waiting for food to arrive at the restaurant. It was something we could do alone or with friends or family. Somewhere along the way, many of us lost interest or fell out of love with drawing, only to revisit it in high-school art class or crafting amazing doodles while we sat in boring meetings. Later, when we decided to become Architects, we revisited all those doodles, paintings, and sketches, realizing how important they were as tools to communicate our ideas, our dreams, our feelings, and, most importantly, the way we think! This session, using hand-drawing exercises, will reconnect participants with that love of drawing and how it is important in our everyday practice as Architects.

Learning Objectives
1. Learn to simply communicate ideas with hand-drawing.
2. Better understand our built environment through drawn studies.
3. Practise using sketches to quickly communicate ideas.
4. Learn the value hand-drawing brings to you and your clients.

Activity Level: This session is Level 3 (Moderately Active) and involves walking. Dress for weather conditions and wear comfortable footwear and clothing (including a hat for sun protection). Consider bringing a refillable water bottle, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, and your camera.

Registrants will meet at the Kreitmaker Experiential Learning Departure Hub in the Conference Lounge to take a transfer to the destination.
