May 15, 2025 | CONTINUING EDUCATION | STRUCTURED

1.50 ConEd Learning Hours
10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Woodsworth College, named after social activist J.S. Woodsworth, posits that the 21st-century pedagogical shift toward outreach and engagement requires educational environments that are more permeable to their surroundings. This ‘contemporary cloister’ for the University of Toronto takes the success of its existing context as a precedent, serving up the arcade as a vertical organizing element that connects Woodsworth students, faculty, and staff to a broader community context.

Learning Objectives
1. Explore an adaptive reuse that sets a standard for thoughtful and rigorous design.
2. Gain insight into the community engagement process at a large institution.
3. Understand built form precedence in shaping the architecture of Any Day.
4. Understand the societal shift to engagement and outreach.
