From Constraints to Community: Designing Harvest Village
5/14/2026|CONTINUING EDUCATION|STRUCTURED
1.50 ConEd Learning Hours
10:30a.m.-12:00p.m.
Harvest Village, a 150-acre mixed-use master plan north of Toronto, reframes infrastructure shortfalls as opportunities for community design. By integrating decentralized wastewater treatment, stormwater strategies, urban agriculture, and a cultural food hall, the project demonstrates how technical constraints can lead to healthier, more connected communities. The session highlights lessons learned, approvals pathways, and design approaches that reimagine urban expansion.
Learning Objectives
1. Learn how infrastructure shortfalls impact housing delivery in new growth areas.
2. Understand how Architect-led master plans turn constraints into design innovation.
3. Navigate regulations to enable community-based infrastructure.
4. Learn how urban expansion can integrate systems, nature, and placemaking
