Unity Design Studio is leading  the transformation of the Shaw Festival’s historic Royal George Theatre. Rebuilt with a goal of achieving RHFAC Gold, the project takes a collaborative approach to accessibility, moving beyond code to reimagine the experience for audiences, artists, and staff. From entrances and exits to flexible seating, accessible washrooms, and inclusive backstage areas, the design strives to create a theatre that welcomes everyone, onstage and off.

Learning Objectives
1. Explore strategies to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in design.
2. Reflect on how people with disabilities experience spaces.
3. Assess why code compliance may not ensure true accessibility.
